Why Blog?
This blog is mainly to fulfill a journal requirement of the Northeastern abroad program. I'll try to update it a couple times a week with a few tidbits of what I've been up to or what I've learned, and pictures that can help me share my experiences.

erasing my ignorance - things I've learned about florence.
- Light switches are sort of like the big push lever switches in the US, but are smaller, oriented in the other direction, and three can fit on a plug in sized mount. I'll add a picture.
- The toilet tank is always at least three feet above the bowl mounted on the wall somewhere in the bathroom. It can be hard to find.
- It's ok, and common, to motorboat a woman if you like her and want to show your appreciation. alternatively, you can just reach up her dress.
- everyone looks at your shoes.
- Binders have two holes and almost exclusively open lengthwise rather than widthwise.
- it's on military time.
- Hot water heaters are small and on the wall of your kitchen.
- The toaster doesn't pop - you put the bread in a metal rack, and then in the toaster and pull it out when it's toast.

Hey Matt!! Your first impressions of Florence made an impression on me...very colorful and descriptive...it reminded me of my first day and night in Germany so many yeras ago, the history and architechure was just so overwhelming! So much to see and do!!!! You are truly on a journey of a lifetime...learn all you can, eat things you never would at home, drink with savor and be safe, go where you can and learn where you can't...(been to a few places that scared me...lol) Stay in touch and most importantly, have fun!!
